Nov'08: Portumna Bridge Refurbishment
News
The old swing bridge over the Shannon near Portumna which was built in 1911 was removed over the October Bank Holiday Weekend when it was cut into sections making way for the new bridge. The new bridge that divides Tipperary and Galway was lifted into place on Monday 27th and drew a large crowd of onlookers from both sides of the divide to witness history in the making.
