| Baltimore Pier Extension, Phase 1, Baltimore, Co. Cork |
L&M Keating Ltd. completed a 75m long extension to the fisheries pier at Baltimore Harbour between May and October 2011. A new reinforced concrete quay wall was constructed from a reinforced concrete footing founded on bedrock exposed by dredging. Temporary piles restrained the base shutter and the wall was constructed using precast concrete permanent formwork. This was then filled with insitu concrete, and the wall tied back to an anchor beam cast in the existing deck. The void behind the quay wall was filled with dredge spoil, and a new spanning deck slab constructed carrying power, water and lighting services and deck furniture. In September 2011 the next phase involving a further 80m of quay valued at €1.2m was awarded to L&M Keating Ltd. Phase 1 – Length 75m, area of new deck 600m2, minimum depth at low tide 5m. |
