BELLANTRA BRIDGE
REPLACEMENT

Co. Leitrim.		 Works involved the removal of an existing steel and timber
bridge deck which spans the river Shannon at Lough Allen sluices
with reinforced concrete deck.

The works required a road closure which was designed,
co-ordinated and implemented by L&M Keating Ltd.

A bridge parapet was provided to the edges of the new structure
with safety barriers to the approaches. A combination of
temporary works such as suspended scaffolding and purpose
built work access platforms were used to construct elements of
the work.

The new deck consisted of reinforced concrete beam with a
reinforced concrete topping. A spray applied waterproofing
system was provided with an asphalt surface.

The existing concrete abutments were repaired and modified to
receive the new RC deck.
