St Angela's College
The project involved the extensive re-development of St. Angela’s College, a long-established Girls Secondary School on St. Patrick's Hill in the North Inner City of Cork.
Dating from the late 19th Century, the school and convent are Heritage listed buildings with 4no. of protected structures, which are situated on a complex city-significant site distinguished by its very steep topography.
The works consisted of the addition of three new concrete frame interlinked buildings 4 floors high over a tanked basement and of approximately 3851m2.
The buildings step down through the length of the steeply sloping city centre site (one of the steepest thoroughfares in Cork) and with the newly included refurbishment and integration of the new build to the existing historic buildings, it completes a grand total floor of 5,576m2.
The works also included extensive demolition works over 5 levels of the site, bulk excavation to new formation levels, site boundary treatment works and all associated site works.
