Foynes Harbour East Jetty
Reclamation of 1.45 hectares at the East Jetty in Foynes Port to improve the flexibility of current port operations and improve ship turnaround times. The works were undertaken with the constraints of an operating port programmed between ship arrivals.
The main elements of works carried out were construction of 235m of combi wall consisting of 1.8m diameter 32m long steel with 250m of sheet piled anchor wall, dredging and sea disposal of silt from the shoreline and placing and compacting over 120,000 tonne of imported stone fill.
Quay works included insitu concrete quay wall, service trenches, removal of existing viaduct and surfacing works. A major M&E component of the works included the re-routing of live petroleum, molasses, fire and potable water mains in a live operational port area.
