This project involves the replacement of the vehicular crossing of the navigation span of the River Shannon provided by the existing Portumna opening swing bridge, with a new opening swing bridge which is to be located in the same location as the existing bridge. The new bridge incorporates a new piled foundation as well as mechanical and electrical components to rotate the bridge. The replacing of the bridge is to be complete during a 10 day possession of the bridge, the bridge is to remain operational at all times during construction. A new plant room and control room are to be constructed, as well as associated services. |
